Offshore Grade
Mooring Chains

Offspring International has over 30 years’ experience in the supply of chain for offshore mooring systems. In the past 20 years, Offspring (with sister company Sanmar Chain International) has supplied over 85,000 tonnes of offshore grade mooring chain for projects around the world.

We offer a broad range of mooring chain up to and including 220mm diameter in all offshore grades with full IACS Accreditation to suit Single Point Mooring / CALM buoy systems and Conventional Buoy Mooring systems as well as larger mooring projects including FPSO, FSO and FLNG, and special offshore mooring applications.

Together, Offspring International and Sanmar Chain International have a successful track record in supplying chain to offshore projects in the Gulf of Mexico, South America, West Africa, South East Asia, Australia, Europe, Middle East, India and the Mediterranean.

Strength and Depth in Mooring Chain Manufacture and Supply

Offspring International offers a range of stud link and studless chain in R3, R3S, R4, R4S and R5 offshore grades up to and including 220mm diameter. Offspring International mooring chains are manufactured in the People’s Republic of China. We were the first team to recognise the quality of Chinese mooring chain and introduce it to the world market.

Offspring International has developed a strong relationship with our manufacturing partners, Asian Star Anchor Chain, over two decades of co-operation. Located in Jiangsu Province, Asian Star is adjacent to the Yangtze River giving easy access to the port of Shanghai by barge.

Combining access to the world’s largest production capacity for offshore grade mooring chain and the ability to meet the most demanding technical requirements in the shortest possible time frame, this partnership gives Offspring International both strength and depth of chain supply.

Commitment to Quality at Every Stage

QA/QC accredited to ISO 9001:2015, Offspring International’s China Operations team works closely with our manufacturing partner to ensure chain quality meets the most rigorous project, classification and international standards.

Based in Zhenjiang, Offspring’s China Operations team is comprised of experienced project managers and inspectors.
Asian Star also incorporates QA/QC systems accredited to ISO 9001:2015 and enjoys type approval from all the major classification societies.

Single Point Moorings

For Single Point Mooring or Catenary Anchor Leg Moorings (CALM) a single buoy is secured via an array of six to eight mooring chains and anchors. Offspring International offers mooring chains in a range of offshore grades and sizes to suit each facilities’ requirements.

Conventional Buoy Mooring

A Conventional Buoy Mooring (CBM) typically comprises four mooring buoys, each moored to the seabed via a single pendant chain with pair of mooring anchors as well as clump weights or piles depending on the environmental conditions.

For CBM, Offspring International offers mooring chains in a range of offshore grades and sizes to suit each facilities’ requirements.

FPSO, FSO & FLNG

Floating oil and gas facilities including FPSO, FSO and FLNG utilise a range of mooring configurations depending on the requirements of project and location.

For mooring systems including chain such as spread mooring systems, fixed or soft connections to a CALM buoy, or a submerged turret, Offspring International offers a range of stud link and studless chain in R3, R3S, R4, R4S and R5 offshore grades up to and including 220mm diameter.

All Offspring International mooring chains for FPSO and FSO is supplied in line with the latest guidance from the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) including OCIMF 2018 ‘Guidelines for Offshore Tanker Operations’ and applicable classification society requirements.
